A Sudden Thought- Ameya Pai

As I was Driving yesterday night...
I had to halt at a signal showing red light...
And then a cute little girl was in front of my sight...
And I was compelled to think, whether everything was alright?

And then my mind flashed back across the years,
When I was a kid and there was nothing to fear...
Toys all around and everything to eat,
And this little girl today is selling balloons on the street...

I had my parents to caress me throughout my childhood,
To fulfill all my needs and capture my different moods,
And this little girl today has no option but to adjust,
And then I was forced to ask myself Isn’t life unjust?

How can destiny be so unfaithful.
Where some are begging and others are privileged to be at school.
All are Gods children we believe,
And still a few have to struggle to live...

All these thoughts were quick and depressing,
I didn’t know what to do and kept on guessing,
And then the light in front turned green,
And unfortunately, I had to bid farewell to the little queen!!
