The seventh edition of the international film festival, ' CortoKino - Unleashing Global Cinema ' organized by the BMM and FTNMP Departments of ' Thakur College of Science And Commerce', began with a bang on 24th January 2019. The theme for this year was ' SILVER SCREEN SYNDICATE - #kayamatmachegi.' The idea behind the theme was to appreciate the on-screen mafia characters world over who overshadowed the protagonist with their magnificent negative roles.
The two-day international film festival which began on 24th January had a plethora of events. An Iranian short film 'Gas Regulator ' was the
opening film for the festival. The ceremony was presided by ' Mr. Mohseen Ashouri ' The Director of Iran Cultural House who was also the chief guest for this international short film festival.
In his speech, he made everyone aware of the Iranian films, culture and asked people to watch Iranian movies. The inauguration ceremony also had veteran art personalities like Abhay Bhargava, Gargi Patel, and GL Bhardwaj. Russian filmmaker Lada Lucky was also present for the opening ceremony.
There was participation from more than 93 countries across the world and more than 20 Media colleges participated across Mumbai for this festival. The highlight of the day was the screening of international short films like Tribune, Aria, Are you volleyball, Because of a little apple, Sacrilege, Un pease Ci vuole, Superprize, and Margherita. The judges for the same were Mr. Salim Ghazi, AM Turaz and Rajshree Thakur. Another event which was the highlight was the ' classified event ', which was a photography event judged by the famous photo journalist ' Mr. Viral Bhayani.'
Day one also had the music video promotion of the music video ' Main Gair Hu' with their lead actors, 'Tia Bajpai and Gaurav Bajaj' addressing the audiences. The end of the day was with the band event (Mafiana) which was amongst the most awaited events of the day. Famous singer ' Madhusree' and the very famous band ' MH 43 India' graced with their presence as the judges. To wrap up day 1 'MH 43 India' performed for the audiences and ended day 1 on a thrilling note.
