LGBT Community Awareness Program was conducted by the Department of Mass Media, TCSC on 13th October 2018.
Mr. Harish Iyer and Ms. Sonal Giani were invited as keynote speakers for the day. Mr. Harish Iyer is an activist, columnist, blogger, animal lover, motivational speaker. He is an activist for a number of causes, including promoting the rights of LGBT community, children, women, animals, and survivors of child sexual abuse.
Ms. Sonal Giani has been an Advocacy Officer with policymakers, law enforcement agencies, legal aid organization, a Manager, Executive producer, Director, Asst. Director, Actress, content writer, Creative Associate, speaker,paper presenter at international level, founder member of an organization, holder of Rashtrapati award.
The students along with teachers began with awareness walk in the premises with posters and slogans and waving the pride flag high. After which the students performed flashmob in the quadrangle. Later, an informative and interactive session was held in seminar hall, where the speakers were felicitated and later threw light on details about LGBT community, laws, stressed need of acceptance, their experiences, sexuality, gender, choices, organizations for help and counseling. Then, the session proceeded with question and answer round which were addressed by speakers. The students from FTNMP handled the photography and attended the entire event.
