RED- JUNHAEE KALA
When things are left unsaid, it starts a dark series of internal battles with self.
The words which are stuck in your throat now starts to burn you from within.
Every fight cut deep in my veins, there is blood everywhere and so much pain.
I tried to stop these tears, but I ended up drowning instead.
Red is my favorite, I tried to paint us with it, but you were grey,
The happiness you wished for turns out to be a rope only to make you its prey.
You still want more and you always go back to it.
So cold are byes, just like icicles piercing through my body.
Dark eyes, cold gaze, winter night, we don’t belong together.
So red are my thoughts, I look down at my heart, only to watch it rip apart.
So red is my temper, I punch the walls and watch my fist bleed.
I cared too much but for what? Only to watch you leave?
When you can’t let go of a person who makes you cry every day, you just learn to die every day.
“I am a breathing corpse”, said my body after the heavy beatings and mental breakdowns.
The harsh words from your mouth stabs me and kills me slow.
I used to kiss those lips, now I wish I never did.
Finally, you left me,
You gave me a final scar as a parting gift and took away the last of the best in me.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror,
Smudge mascara, red eyes, and smudged red lipstick.
Drenched and torn dress which you gave me last summer, now it’s cold with rain.
For the final time, I whispered “Happy birthday” to myself.. before it all faded away.
